James Newman – Embers
Krátce o interpretovi
James Newman se narodil v roce 1985 ve městě Settle v hrabství Severní Yorkshire, momentálně žije a tvoří v Londýně. Je starším bratrem zpěváka Johna Newmana. James se věnuje především psaní písní, za což se mu dostalo nominace na Grammy, za song Waiting All Night složený pro Rudimental a Ellu Eyre získal ocenění na prestižních BRIT Awards v kategorii Britská píseň roku. Po tomto singlu, který se vyšplhal na první pozici britské hitparády roku 2013, přišla další úspěšná skladba Blame, kterou napsal pro spolupráci bratra Johna s Calvinem Harrisem. Sám James se jako zpěvák proslavil v roce 2018 singlem Therapy, na kterém spolupracoval s nizozemským DJ Arminem Van Buurenem.
James je jedním z řady navrátilců ze zrušené Eurovize 2020, na níž měl reprezentovat Spojené království s písní My Last Breath. Během eurovizní pauzy stihl v červenci 2020 vydat své debutové EP The Things We Do, které mimo jeho původní reprezentační skladby obsahuje ještě písničky Alone, Better Man a Enough. V únoru 2021 pak BBC potvrdila jeho comeback a nyní jsme se dočkali i jeho energické novinky Embers, kterou zazpívá jako automatický finalista v Rotterdamu. Jak sám James uvedl, během skladatelského procesu se snažil vytvořit pozitivní song, na nějž si může každý zatancovat, třebaže jen doma v kuchyni.
