Díky Mikolasi Josefovi, který vyhrál poslední ročník OGAE Video Contest, vás všechny jménem českého OGAE klubu srdečně vítáme v Česku, v Praze. Právě začíná OGAE Video Contest 2019! Jak všichni nejspíš víte, v této soutěži bojují kluby s videoklipy písní ze své země, narozdíl od Song contestu zde však můžou vybraní reprezentanti zpívat v libovolném jazyce. Koho tedy jednotlivé kluby pro letošní bitvu vybraly?
OGAE Video Contest 2019 představuje 25 videoklipů. Kluby mají možnost hlasovat pro své oblíbené videoklipy písní ode dneška až do 1. prosince. Držíme všem palce a doufáme, že si letošní ročník společně užijeme!
Hello Europe (and not only you)!
Thanks to Mikolas Josef who won the last edition of OGAE Video Contest, we can welcome you all, on behalf of the Czech OGAE club, in Czechia, in Prague. The OGAE Video Contest 2019 has just begun! As you all probably know, in this contest the clubs are competing with their chosen music videos of the songs from their countries. In contrast to the Song contest, there’s no language rule of the songs here. Well, what music videos have clubs chosen for this year’s fight?
OGAE Video Contest 2019 is now presenting 25 music videos. All clubs can vote for their favourite songs until 1 Decemeber. Fingers crossed for all, we hope that we all are going to enjoy this edition!
Tommy Cash – Little Molly
Tomas Tammemets (born 18 November 1991), better known as Tommy Cash (sometimes stylised as TOMM¥ €A$H), is an Estonian rapper, singer, and conceptual artist.
In November 2018, Cash released his second album ¥€$ which got a positive reviews from publications such as Clash and PAPER. The album features vocal performances from artists such as MC Bin Laden, Charli XCX, Rick Owens, and Carolone Polachek, as well as production from Danny L Harle, A.G. Cook, Amnesia Scanner and Boys Noize.
Eleni Foureira – Tómame
Eleni Foureira (1987) started her career as a member of the pop girl band “Mystique” in 2007. In late 2009 the members left the band and Eleni pursued a solo career. Since 2017 she is one of the best selling artists of Panik Records Company, both in Greece and Cyprus. In early 2018, the Cypriot national broadcaster announced her participation in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Fuego”. Eleni, finally finished as the runner-up of the contest to winner Netta from Israel, though she started an amazing career around Europe. After “Fuego”, she has released the singles “Caramela”, “Triumph”, “Tómame”, “El ritmo psicodelico” and “Sirens” in collaboration with Kaan and the famous American rapper Snoop Dogg.
Jack Savoretti feat. Mika – Youth and Love
Two of the most unique and talented UK singers of recent years have teamed up for this 80s inspired song that is already getting a great amount of UK radio play. Jack Savoretti was born in London in 1983 and is of Italian descent. His latest song comes from his most recent album, Singing to Strangers, which was promoted by an appearance on one of the UK’s leading TV shows, The Graham Norton Show.
Mika was the number one breakthrough act in 2007, storming to Number One in the charts with the song Grace Kelly. His fifth and most recent album, My Name is Michael Holbrook, is out this autumn, and is his first UK studio album since 2015’s No Place in Heaven.
Ira Losco – Hey Now
Ira Losco is a Maltese singer and songwriter. Her career breakthrough came in 2002, when she represented Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 with the song “7th Wonder”. She placed second in the competition, Malta’s best ever result. Fourteen years later, she returned and represented Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song “Walk on Water”, placing twelfth. In 2018, she served as a judge on the inaugural season of X Factor Malta, she returned to serve as judge and in 2019.
Mikolas Josef – Acapella ft. Fito Blanko & Frankie J
Mikolas Josef is a Czech singer, songwriter, music producer, music video director, and choreographer. He represented the Czech Republic in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal, with the song “Lie to Me”, reaching sixth place. Josef is the most successful Czech entrant to date in Eurovision history. After his Eurovision success he became popular all over the Europe and beyond. All of his after-Eurovision singles became immediate hits, including “Me Gusta”, “Abu Dhabi” and “Acapella”. “Me Gusta” was chosen to represent the Czech Republic at OGAE Video Contest 2018, which suceeded and Mikolas became the first Czech song ever to win an OGAE contest. Therefore OGAE Czech Republic decided to give Mikolas the chance to fight for the victory once again this year with his latest Latino summer hit “Acapella”.
Daria Zawialow – Szarówka
Daria Zawiałow born on August 18, 1992 in Koszalin – is a Polish singer, songwriter and composer. In 2000, at the age of seven, she appeared on TVP1 From kindergarten to Opole, where she sang the song “River” from the repertoire of the Free Group Bukowina. She took part in many competitions and festivals for children and youth. She worked with the band for her upkeep, playing at weddings. In April 2016 she performed at the Stage on the Floor in Poznań as part of the Enea Spring Break Festival. She was hailed as “the revelation of Spring Break 2016”. In February 2017, she performed her debut live material for the first time during a concert at the Studio of Agnieszka Osiecka. The whole concert was broadcast on the third program of Polish Radio. Piotr Rogucki, Gaba Kulka and Bela Komoszyńska guest starred along with the artist. On March 3, Sony Music released their debut studio album, A kysz! She released her next album entitled Helsinki on March 8, 2019.
Anna Vissi & Yiota Yianna – Ósoi agapáne den pethaínoune
Anna Vissi, also known as Anna Vishy, is a Greek-Cypriot singer, songwriter, actress, television presenter, radio personality, and businesswoman. In 1980, Vissi participated in the 25th Eurovision Song Contest representing Greece with the song “Autostop“ finishing 13th. In 1982, she represented her native Cyprus at the 27th Eurovision Song Contest with the song she composed herself, “Mono I Agapi“, which ended fifth. She appeared at Eurovision Song Contest in 2006 for the third time, now again for Greece with the song “Everything“, for which she wrote the lyrics. On her third attempt, Anna finished on 9th place.
Mahmood – Barrio
Alessandro Mahmoud, known as Mahmood, was born in Milan on 12th September 1992 to an italian mother from Sardinia and an egyptian father. When he was 5 years old his parents divorced and he was subsequently raised by his mother. In 2018 some of his songs such as “Nero Bali” sang by Elodie and Michele Bravi and “Hola (I say)” sang by Marco Mengoni and Tom Walker were huge hits in Italy. In the same year he released his first EP titled “Gioventù bruciata” and took part in the Sanremo Festival Newcomers Division with the same title track. He won and got a wildcard to the main division of the Sanremo Festival 2019 where he competed with a new song titled “Soldi” and won the whole competition by surprise and had the right to represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv where he finished as a runner-up. He also won the Marcel Bezençon Award for the Best Composer and the OGAE Poll. In September 2019 he released a new successful single titled “Barrio”, which became one of the most songs played by the Italian radios, and in October he started an European tour.
Loïc Nottet – On fire
Loïc Nottet is a Belgian singer, who finished second in the third season of The Voice Belgique in 2014 and represented Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with “Rhythm Inside” which was held in Vienna, Austria, where he placed fourth with 217 points. The song was certified Platinum for selling 30,000 copies in Belgium. In autumn 2015, he took part in and won the sixth series of the French TV show Danse avec les stars. Nottet’s single “Million Eyes”, part of his first album, was released on 27 October 2016. Nottet won the Best Belgian Act category at the 2017 MTV Europe Music Awards. Throughout 2017 Nottet toured on the Selfocracy tour in Belgium which also reached the UK, France, Germany and more. The tour finished in early August 2018. Loïc Nottet won the OGAE Video Contest in 2017 with “Mud Blood”.
Panic! At The Disco – High Hopes
Panic! At The Disco is an American pop-rock band from Las Vegas formed in 2004, and still making some of the most inventive pop-rock music around. Lead singer Brendon Urie has cited Frank Sinatra, Queen, David Bowie, Green Day and Weezer (among others) as his vocal influences.
High Hopes was released as the second single from their 6th studio album, reaching number 4 on the US Billboard Hot 100, top ten in an over 15 countries, and top 20 in countless more, making it their most successful single to date. The video starts with Brendon walking the streets of L.A., bumped and ignored by many, until he commences walking determinedly up the outside of a glass skyscraper to the awe of the crowds. Another excellent showing by this remarkable band!
Alma – Perfect
ALMA is a promising 16-year-old singer-songwriter. She plays the piano and the guitar. Although she loves music from a very young age, she actually started singing just for fun by posting covers of her favourite songs on social media. She is signed to Virginia Records – a leading Bulgarian label, and her unique voice is getting more and more appreciated by the Bulgarian audience. Her debut single “Perfect” gained popularity in Bulgaria and and is followed by her new song “Don’t Know”.
Robert Bilbilov – Cudni Mesta
Robert Bilbilov is one of the greatest, most unique and inventional producers and performers in the Republic of Macedonia and beyond. His music discography and production discography include innumerable hits that are still remembered by their immaculate composition and arrangment.
Michael Schulte – Never Let You Down
Michael Schulte was born on April 30, 1990 in northern Germany. At the end of 2011 Michael Schulte participates in “The Voice of Germany” comes to the finals and ends up third. His biggest success as a musician he celebrates on February 22, 2018 as the winner of the TV show “Unser Song für Lissabon”. On May 12, 2018, he represents Germany with the title “You Let Me Walk Alone” at the Eurovision Song Contest in Portugal and ends surprisingly fourth – the best placement for Germany since Lena’s ESC victory in 2010. Privately, the singer married his girlfriend Katharina. Her love is completed in August 2018 by the birth of their first son Luis. In 2018 he also publishes “Never Let You Down”. The video was selected for OGAE Video Contest 2019 out of 120 entries and won the German preselection just ahead of Lena (“Thank You”) and Wincent Weiss (“An Wunder”).
Danijela Karić & Elena Risteska – Srca se pogreše
Danijela Karić is a Serbian singer born in 1984 in Belgrade. She has been singing since 1999 when she recorded several pop songs. After a few years break, in 2019 she returns to the Serbian stage with the duet song „Srca se pogreše” (“Hearts Are Wrong “).
Elena Risteska is a Macedonian recording artist. She represented North Macedonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in Athens with the song “Ninanajna”, and finished in 12th place. Risteska is also an occasional songwriter, writing for artists such as 4Play, Lambe Alabakoski, and Aleksandra Pileva. She took part in the second season of the Serbian version of Your Face Sounds Familiar, where she placed second in the final as Beyoncé.
Lotfi Begi & Irie Maffia – Friends
Irie Maffia is a Hungarian pop band formed in 2005. Their music is based on reggae and dancehall, which they blend with hip hop, funk and rock. Their first recording in 2006 made use of a dancehall riddim, the Rodeo riddim (formerly made popular by the mighty Seeed), which was released by Germaica Records, Europe’s leading reggae/dancehall record company. The full house release party of the Mafia’s first LP, Fel a kezekkel! (Hands In The Air), took place on A38, a party boat in Budapest, in December, 2007. Irie Maffia’s first video clip, shot for their most popular song, “Hands In The Air”, came out by the spring of 2008. In 2015, Vízibility, a one-day event organised by Foundation for Africa, was held to raise awareness to the water problems of the African continent. At the event, Sena Dagadu gave a concert.
Leningrad – i_$uss
Leningrad is a popular Russian rock band from Saint Petersburg (formerly Leningrad), led by Sergey “Shnur” Shnurov. Composed of 14 members, the band was founded in the late 1990s. Leningrad worked in Gypsy punk style and soon became notorious for vulgar lyrics and celebration of drinking. As a result, most radio stations initially avoided the band, which did not stop Leningrad’s growing popularity, partly for purely aesthetic reasons, such as the rich brass sound. In 2007, the group began experimenting with female backup vocals, finally choosing jazz singer Yuliya Kogan as a permanent band member. Leningrad disbanded in 2008, and then reunited in 2010. Several new songs and videos have been released since, most of them featuring lead vocals by Kogan rather than Shnurov. In March 2019, Shnurov announced, through his daily Instagram poem, that Leningrad would disband by the end of the year, after a farewell tour.
Mabel Matiz – Comme Un Animal
Fatih Karaca, better known by his stage name Mabel Matiz, is a Turkish pop music singer-songwriter. He chose his stage name from 2 different words that he was inspired by. “Mabel” is from the Turkish novel Kumral Ada Mavi Tuna by Buket Uzuner. It is the nickname of Tuna who is one of the main characters. “Matiz” is a slang word in the old Greek language meaning “drunk”. “Mabel Matiz” reflects his point of view about the world and life.
Blaya – Só Love feat. Laton & No Maka
Blaya was born in Brazil in 1987 and she moved to Portugal with two months of age. In 2008, she joined the musical group Buraka Som Sistema, having acted in several festivals, highlighting her participation in Rock in Rio Lisboa in 2018. In March 2018, Blaya released the single “Faz Gostoso”, sung with a Brazilian accent, becoming a success in Portugal and was subsequently rerecorded later by Madonna. In the month of October 2018, Blaya was nominated for the Best Portuguese ACT Award of the MTV Europe Music Awards. In July 2019, the song “Só Love” was elected as representative of OGAE Portugal in the contest OGAE Video Contest 2019.
Pnau – Solid Gold feat. Kira Divine & Marques Toliver
With Pnau’s only two Australian Top Ten singles coming in 2016 and 2017, you’d be forgiven for thinking this electronic band are one of Australia’s freshest acts. However, Pnau actually formed in 1999, enjoying multiple successes over their 20 year career. And it seems there’s no sign of slowing down, with “Solid Gold“ giving us an exciting first taste of their forthcoming sixth album.
In the UK, Pnau are most well known for their 2012 album, Good Morning To The Night, a UK #1 album featuring 8 tracks that sample Elton John songs to form totally new songs. Almost 50 of Elton’s song were remixed and cut up to form this amazing piece of work!
The “Solid Gold“ video clip continues the visual brilliance seen in their hits “Chameleon” and “Go Bang”, and OGAE Australia is proud to (finally) rope them in as their representative for the 2019 OGAE Video Contest.
Dons – Lūdzu vēl neaizej
Arturs Šingirejs, better known as Dons, is a Latvian singer. He represented Latvia at the New Wave 2008, where he got 4th place. He has released four studio albums. In 2014, he participated in Dziesma in an attempt to represent Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest. He finished in 2nd place behind Aarzemnieki. He was a judge in the first season of the Latvian television show Supernova.

Jelena Rozga – Moje proljece
Jelena Rozga is a Croatian pop singer. She is also a music icon in the Balkans. Jelena started her music career in 1996, when she performed the song “Aha“ on Dora, Croatian National Final for Eurovision Song Contest and won second place. In the same year she became singer of Magazin. Even before turning 18, she joined the group that would eventually bring her great success in the future and make her one of the most popular singers in the region. In 2006 Jelena left Magazin, but continued to work with Tonci Huljic, the founder of Magazin. In December 2016, Jelena released her third studio album Moderna Zena. In it’s first week of release Moderna Zena reached No.1 place on selling charts and it was nominated for Porin 2017 award for best album in category Best album of pop music. She released the song “Zileti“ as the third single from the album. The song received around 210,000 views in one day and more than 600,000 views in one week. The album was commercially successful.
MARUV – Siren Song
Anna Korsun, known professionally as MARUV, is a Ukrainian singer, composer, poet and producer. She lives and works in Kyiv. A musical project called Maruv with her participation existed from February 2017 until March 2018. It was the successor of the band The Pringlez. Later, Korsun gave an interview in which she explained that now she speaks personally under the pseudonym MARUV.
“Siren Song“ is a song by Ukrainian singer Maruv, which won the Ukrainian national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv. However, due to a disagreement between Maruv and the broadcaster, she was forced to cancel her participation. The music video for “Siren Song” was released on 5 April 2019.
Srbuk – Half of Goddess
Srbuk is an Armenian singer who is best recognized for having competed on the first season of the Armenian edition of The X Factor where she was the runner up. She also competed on The Voice Ukraine during their eighth season where she placed fourth. She is also known for her popular singles “Walking Out” and “Half a Goddess”.
Zazie – Speed
Isabelle Truchy de Varenne born on April 1964, renamed as Zazie in reference of Raymond Queneau’s character “Zazie in the subway” started her career as a model in the 1980’s. In 1990, she released her first LP, however, she earned success with her second LP, “Zen”. During her successful career, Zazie has released 10 LP and has topped the charts in many occasions with songs like “Larsen”, “Rue de la Paix”, “Tout le monde”, “Rodéo”, “A ma place”. In 2015, she became coach in “The Voice 4” which she won at her first attempt and even a second time in 2017. During the The Voice 6, she discovered Emmy Lyiana and wrote her title for Destination Eurovision 2018 “Ok ou KO”. In 2018, she decided to leave The Voice in order to prepare her upcoming Album Essenciel. “Speed” is the first extract of this LP and has reached platinium immediately upon release.
Avicii feat. Chris Martin – Heaven
Avicii’s real name is Tim Bergling and he was born in Stockholm in 1989. Tim started his DJ-career when he was 16 years old. In 2010 he released his first singles under the name “Avicii” and reached top 20 in Belgium, Netherlands and Sweden, but the big breakthrough came in 2011 with the worldwide hit “Levels”. After that Avicii had recorded two albums and made a big world tour. A lot of other artists wanted to collaborate and make music together with Avicii and he produce hit after hit featuring well known artists like David Guetta, Robbie Williams, Coldplay and many more. The hard music life made a high pressure on Tim and he decided to stop touring round the world but he continued to produce music. Sadly, that didn’t helped and Tim got more and more stressed and depressed and in April 2018 Avicii committed suicide.
Before Tim took his life, he had produced more music and his record company had released it posthumous. The song “Heaven” is one of these songs and it is Chris Martin, singer in the British rock band Coldplay, that sings the vocals in this song.
